If you haven’t seen theLFS 2 video yet, you’re seriously missing out—on Jeff’s ender section and the whole video in general. However, GT did see the video, and they got him on the team. Hopefully with the boost from GT, we’ll be seeing a lot of JWG. But for now, check out his street certified BMX bicycle.

Would you mind describing/explaining LFS for anyone reading this who isn’t familiar yet?
Looking For Spots (LFS) is a BMX crew consisting of a few shredders from NJ and Staten Island, NY. Everyone on the team works pretty hard searching for new spots and setups to ride while going to college full-time and/or working 40+ hours at a real job. So far as a crew, we have generated three full length DVDs and have just begun to film for the fourth. The age demographic of the crew ranges from 19 to 30 years old, which shows in our riding styles from the young tech masters like Smallfry and Mike K. to older spot slayers like Doroba and Dan Diehl. The dynamics of our personal riding styles and spot preferences keeps us constantly inspired by each other. We, as a crew, all strive to preserve and continue to influence the east coast riding scene as best we can.

The 5050 Skatepark, an 8,000-square-foot indoor park on Staten Island for skateboards, BMX bikes and scooters, rejiggered its passwords after being hit with a denial of service attack last fall that made its website unavailable. The skatepark, which generated $100,000 in revenue in 2014, attracts skateboarders from all over the world, said one of its founders, Edward Pollio. Having the website closed down was a blow to revenue, he said.

“The attack caused havoc,” said Mr. Pollio, who still has a day job as a carpenter. “People were asking if we were still in business. Not having a website is like being closed.”

Now, 5050 Skatepark is more strict about its passwords; it follows longstanding recommendations to use different ones for different accounts, like on Instagram and Twitter. And Mr. Pollio, who helped start the business with $50,000 of his own savings, monitors the site every day.

Employee training is also inexpensive, but important. Since most hacking episodes occur when employees click on malicious links or websites, education is the best defense, many security experts said.

BMX – Kink “Intervention”

January 31, 2016/in BMX, Videos /by jasper

The entire Kink team went dumb hard for their new full length, hit play and enjoy!

http://www.kinkbmx.com

“This is Kink BMX – Intervention. A culmination of riding from the entire Kink BMX team filmed over the last part of 2015. Filmed by Darryl Tocco, Dan Coller, and Calvin Kosovich in the Southwest USA, California, East Coast USA, Costa Rica, Barcelona, and Latvia. This was an effort to not only get the whole team together, and showcase Kink for 2016…but to also take some time to have fun, shed light on the intricacies of your favorite Kink riders, continue traveling, put a bangin’ soundtrack together, and hope that this project gets you motivated to ride each day you click play!

On top of that….We broke our own guidelines to the video…and present you a full scale, real deal, Dan Coller Video Part. Filmed over the course of 2015 and during the filming for Intervention….there’s not many words that can sum up just how crazy this riding is. It is something you need to witness in video…and hopefully catch a session with Dan in person, to truly appreciate and respect. Dan is pushing burly, fast street riding…at a scary pace.”

City’s Bay Street Corridor plan: Residents want more before endorsing it

January 18, 2016/in Art, BMX, Drifting, Fixed Gear, Flatland, Inline Skating, MTB, Music, News, Scooter, Skate /by jasper

SILIVE

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A stalwart band of civic leaders and local business owners braved the frigid cold on Monday afternoon to hold a press conference in Tappen Park, announcing priority issues they are asking the city to address as plans move forward to re-zone and develop the Bay Street Corridor.

The corridor — now zoned for manufacturing — extends from Sands Street in Stapleton to Victory Boulevard in Tompkinsville, between Van Duzer Street and the Staten Island Railroad tracks.

Residents and business owners laid out a series of community priorities they want funded in order to gain local support for the city plan that is designed to transform the corridor with new housing and commercial uses.

“If the city addressed even a quarter of what we are requesting, Stapleton would be transformed.”

“Some of the top priorities for my members are increased ease of public transportation for Stapleton commuters, enhanced safety for pedestrians along Bay Street, and the creation of new public schools for the anticipated influx of new families,” said Priscilla Marco, president of the Van Duzer Street Area Civic Association. “These items must be addressed in conjunction with the rezoning of the Bay Street Corridor.”

The grass-roots coalition called for funding of the construction of a new public school, intermediate school and high school within the Bay Street Corridor area “to ensure that sufficient seats are available for the current residents and future population growth.”
