Share content your audience wants to see. Sometimes, participating in social media means curating content that other publishers produce or creating content that serves your audience—even if it doesn’t directly serve your brand. Ed Pollio is the co-founder of 5050 Skatepark, New York City’s only indoor skatepark. He maintains the park’s YouTube channel, which has become a large part of its marketing. Pollio uses YouTube to share content that speaks to his audience’s lifestyle and gives his audience a greater voice. This includes sharing music videos, content on BMX, skate, and scooter, and interviews of locals and other people supporting the skate park.

X-Games Tribute to Dave Mirra

2016-04-14-at-10.24.17-AM-1000x563
From XGames.com:

“ESPN X Games will add a special Dave Mirra BMX Park Best Trick competition to X Games Austin 2016 in honor and memory of the X Games and BMX legend. The competition celebrating Mirra’s life and legacy will take place on Saturday, June 4, at the Circuit of The Americas, where the winner of the competition will be awarded the Mirra Golden Pedal and prize money. Admittance to the competition will be available to X Games Austin ticket holders that day on a first come-first serve basis.

A true action sports and X Games icon, Mirra owned the record for the most medals in X Games history up until 2013, totaling 23 medals in BMX – 14 being gold – and one from RallyCar Racing. Dave’s storied career and supreme dominance of BMX at X Games is illustrated through several historic moments and records, resulting in 13-straight X Games medals beginning at the inaugural X Games event in 1995. Mirra is one of only two athletes in the event’s history to have won multiple gold medals in three separate X Games events.

“Dave Mirra is basically BMX, and his name is synonymous with BMX in the modern age, you know, the household name,” said 16-time X Games BMX medalist Ryan Nyquist. “I think it’s great that X Games will honor Dave and his accomplishments with a BMX Park Best Trick contest. Dave was always one to push the limits of what’s possible on a bike, and to innovate his riding beyond what we all thought was possible. Giving the riders a stage to push their riding and the progression of the sport in the name of Dave Mirra is perfect.”

Full competition schedule and tickets for X Games Austin 2016 are now available at XGames.com. General admission tickets start at $39 with VIP, one-day and three-day experiences, and music options offered.

Also new for 2016, X Games Austin will be offering fans X Games ATXPRESS Shuttle passes for purchase beginning today at www.xgames.com. Passes are priced at $35 per day or $99 for Friday-Sunday competition days and will include coach bus transportation from the X Games Shuttle Hub at the Austin Convention Center in downtown Austin to the Circuit of The Americas.

X Games ATXPRESS shuttles will run continuously throughout each day between the following hours:

Friday, June 3 1 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Saturday, June 4 9 a.m. – 1 a.m.
Sunday, June 5 9 a.m. – 6 p.m”
